Bremen 17th June
Its half time during Czech Rep vs Ghana, with Ghana holding a surprising but deserved 1-0 lead. A look back now at the times we have had over the past two weeks.
Once we got over the travel weariness that the first few days was plagued I've really started to soak in europe and enjoy it immensely.
Amsterdam was something totally foreign to me, and really wasn't suited to the type of person i am. it was an experience and a city with some beautiful areas, but they are rather hidden beneath the seedy sex & drugs ridden atmosphere of the city.
Prague was a beautiful city, very medievil in its appearance. It was very much from the old world, whilst we never really found the so called cheap czech beer, it was still a good experience, and there is so much more to see there, which we didn't get to see. The eastern style of europe was something different to the west, and things were again foreign to us. Also not to be forgotten about Czech republic was the Abysnth to be forever remembered as the drink of death. Three A-Bombs and the night was over, and the morning was hell. Don't mess with the Green Fairy.
Vienna, unfortunately we never really got to see anything in Vienna, the classical music shows, were events you needed to book in advance, and the World cup started the night we arrived. We did a brief walk around the central city area, and it had a really multi cultural feel to the town. It was a place that i feel i could defiently live in. The wombats hostel was the best Hostel we stayed at with Some great tasting beer, going at only 1 euro each during happy hour, which lasted for 3 hours. We also met the english lads at wombats, and enjoyed some really good football.
Munich started off as a nightmare with a bad hostel, which took 1 hour to find, and was crap when we found it. We debated heading back to bremen or staying in an actual hotel, in the end we found the Hostel Jaegers. Munich was a great city and we didn't really experience much of the traditional sites. We found a city gripped in football fever, the experiences in munich watching football will be ones never forgotten. From the fan fest or our first match at the great allianze arena. Football was number 1 and everyone knew about it. In the end we were enjoying the atmosphere so much that we didn't want to leave, and really to spend the entire world cup in Munich would have been awesome. It was in Munich that i decided that i shall go to every world cup from now on. Every 4 years, i will trek the globe to follow the cup and spend 4 weeks in a pure football festival.
Our return to Bremen, also saw the arrival of my beautiful girlfriend Lauren, whom i met up with in frankfurt at 6am, after spending the night on a train to get there. Lauren was rather tired and feeling rather ill. But after a good night sleep she feels alot better.
I've just got a new digital card with 16 times the storage capacity so the shots coming through are going to be of a higher quality, so they should look better on the computer at your end.
We have another week or so in Bremen, before heading down to italy. I'm really looking forward to it. So much more experiences to be had , and also so much more football to watch. About a quarter through the trip and its been great so far. Hope you are all enjoying the blog.
